Primary
Responsibilities:
o Serve as primary advocate for Texas Instruments with State of California policymakers in the executive and legislative branches and regulatory agencies. Plan, develop and execute on strategies to secure policy outcomes favorable to Texas Instruments.
o Support TI Washington office in advocacy of federal priorities and development of relationships with policy makers in CA.
o Engage with local government officials as needed.
o Support TI PAC membership building and retention activities.
Supporting
Responsibilities:
o Develop strong relationships with key lawmakers and staff;
o Manage effective communications strategy to insure stakeholder /policy maker clarity and understanding of TI policy positions, operations, community investments, and contributions to CA economy and research infrastructure. This includes direct advocacy, leveraging media, developing collateral materials as needed to secure policy results
o Coordinate site visits and external opportunities for SVA executives to interact with and develop relationships with key policymakers.
o Effectively manage and leverage trade association membership to ensure that TI interests are being supported through those groups.
o Coordinate activities by internal and possibly external lobby teams and key trade association policy committees.
o Understand TI/SVA policy priorities related to tax, energy, environmental; secondary and post-secondary education; intellectual property; liability; shareholder mandates; employee benefits; and be attuned to other potential matters of interest.
o Develop internal stakeholders Keep up to date with internal stakeholders in related organizations on policy priorities.
o Support TI PAC through solicitations, and organizing PAC member events. Represent TI at fundraisers.
Management/Organization Skills,
Experience: Must be highly motivated self starter; Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) essential; Must be a strategic thinker with the ability to design and implement projects and strategic initiatives. Should be organized and detail oriented with a proven ability to prioritize. Prior knowledge of technology industry and legislative processes are essential and at least five years experience in CA state government and/or government relations expected. Existing relationships with key committee members, staff, and leadership expected. Bachelors' degree required, advanced degree highly desirable.
Technical Abilities: Facility with current office technology (word, Power point excel) required. Proficiency with social media a plus.
Team and People Skills: Must be personable, outgoing with ability to lead others. High level of integrity and required.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
